What Does It Look Like to Actually Face Your Own Shadow?

Facing the shadow means being willing to meet the rage, frustration, and disconnection left behind by painful experiences, rather than burying them or simply trying to move on. For me it meant years of dedicated spiritual study, courses, and workshops, and it became the doorway to spiritual liberation from childhood patterns I once thought I would carry for life.

Have you faced your shadows in this life? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😫 I lived for a long time in my life with not understanding how to really face the shadow or what that meant truly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😭 I struggled against the feelings of rage, frustration and deep disconnect in my psyche from the terrible things I witnessed as a young one. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🥺 I felt dis-empowered by my life⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😤I felt unable to overcome the past. I felt unclear as how to take steps towards true resolve, true healing inside. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💃I chased after feeling good and doing everything to put the horrible past behind me. I made my mind up that I create my reality and moved on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧐I chose to find my happiness no matter how long it took me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😍At 25 I chose to move to a new state and start fresh. I saw this as an opportunity to choose high level, honest, kind, people with integrity into my life, people that acknowledged my worth as I was starting to.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙏I dedicated my life to understanding my spiritual journey no matter how painful. I studied, I took courses, I took workshops. I became the spiritual seeker at the age of 18 after a friend was murdered in my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨I knew that exploring my relationship with God is the way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤩Now after years of spiritual study, deep internal work and learning to trust myself I have come to understand and embrace the shadow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙌🏻 This has given me the gift of spiritual liberation from childhood abuse patterns that I thought I would die with after reaching the age of 40 and still was struggling with deep triggers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

✅ Completing our curriculum takes time in life. ⠀⠀

What we call the shadow is often an exiled part of self, carrying a belief formed at a specific age. Meeting it directly is the work of age stage healing, and it is closely tied to the father wound and mother wound for many people.

What Else Do People Ask About Facing the Shadow?

Can you heal the past by just deciding to move on?

Often not. Chasing good feelings and putting the past behind you can leave deep triggers in place. Understanding and embracing the shadow is what brings true resolve.

How long does shadow work take?

Completing our curriculum takes time in life. It is a dedicated journey of spiritual study, deep internal work, and learning to trust yourself.
